HolzrädchenHolzrädchen ("wooden wheel") was founded in may 1975. During the revival aera of folk-music in the style of the Minstrels, Emma and Volker had started collecting information and making contacts with other musicians since 1971. Until 1983 the band "Holzrädchen" had numerous performances, in Germany, mainly in Hessia as well as in the the Netherlands and Switzerland. From 1979 to 1983 they self-published two LPs and an MC. After 1984 when the common interest in this kind of music became smaller, Emma and Volker decided like many other bands to reduce their performances to a minimum. They continued playing their music, however, visitied many conventions of musicians and developed musically. They started performing
again in 1992. One highlight of their work has been a tour to China
which had manly been organized by Cheng Gongliang.
Performances in the Music Faculties of the Universities in Beijing,
Jinan and Nanjing. The next China-Tour is scheduled for this autumn.
